Here at Fig Cafe we would like to welcome you to the first of our Fig Events, a guest chef evening 'A Taste of Jamaica' . Guest chef Ben Arthur will be bringing an authentic taste of Jamaica to Fig Cafe. You will be greeted with a welcome rum cocktail (there will be a non-alcoholic option also available) & nibbles, followed by a delicious Jamaican meal served in a relaxed sharing style. There will be a bar open on the evening where you can purchase additional drinks.
Ben has been cooking professionally for 15 years since graduating from Jamie Oliver 's Fifteen London where he as one of the first group of apprentices. Born of a Jamaican father and having grown up in North London he was exposed to Caribbean culture and food from a young age.
He has also recently launched a jam company 'Rockjam Spice' producing 'Sweet Chilli Jerk Jam' and 'Hot Chilli Jerk Jam', which will be used in the
menu and will be available to purchase on the evening.
Jamaican cuisine makes much use of charcoal grilling, slow cooking and utilises fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices which is reflected in Ben's
On arrival.... you will be welcomed with a Jamaican cocktail and grilled plantain
To share at the table... Jerk Chicken cooked over charcoal, Sweet Potato Curry, Rice and Peas, Roti , Jerk Corn Cobs and Rockjam Slaw
To finish... a Pineapple and Coconut Cake served with Coconut Yogurt
The menu is entirely gluten and diary free and mostly vegetarian. Please inform us if you are vegetarian of any allergies and severe intolerance's by emailing us at email@example.com
(Seating will be around large tables of 10, 8 & 6, with sharing dishes on the table - please inform us if you would like to be seated with other groups.
